Boasting a mild climate and relaxed atmosphere, Batemans Bay is a very popular holiday destination. Batemans Bay has spectacular coastal views, numerous safe surfing / swimming beaches, a variety of tourist attractions, various fishing options and it is surrounded by National Parks. The town is well known for its succulent oysters which are grown in the unspoilt waters of the Clyde River. Being centrally located in Batemans Bay, Pebble Bay Cottage is close to a variety of activities and places of interest for grown ups and children alike.

Beaches & National Parks

The Bay has a large number of beaches, some are suitable for young children, while others are ideal for the more experienced board riders. Surf schools cater for beginners to experienced riders.

Close to the Batemans Bay there a number of diverse National Parks covering 150,000 hectares of forests and amazing waterfalls. There are many trails for bush walking and observing wildlife.

Water Sports

Jetskis, boating and kayaking are wonderful forms of recreation and a great way to see the many waterways in this beautiful area. Hire a tinnie and take your time going up the Clyde River. You can hire a kayak and paddle along the estuary or if you like a challenge, take it to a surfing beach. Jetskis are available for hire and this activity is permitted along some beaches.

Catalina Country Club Golf Course - 200 from from Pebble Bay Cottage.This 27 hole championship golf course is one of the best on the South Coast of NSW. The club has a casual atmosphere and it is the perfect place for a drink and a meal.

Birdland Animal Park

Birdland Animal Park is a short walk from Pebble Bay Cottage. The park has over 50 species of native Australian animals, birds and reptiles located on 8 acres of landscapped gardens. They have hands on displays of koalas, wombats and snakes. You can take a picnic or use the BBQ facilities. Playground and kiosk facilities are also available.


Beach, river and rock fishing are very popular activities for all ages. Batemans Bay provides many safe opportunities to beach fishing. Local charter operators specialise in reef, deep sea and game fishing.

River Cruise

Merinda River Boat Cruise operates a 3 hour river cruise leaving from the Innes Boat Shed in town. Scrumptious fish, chips and salad are served on board as you cruise up the Clyde River to Nelligen, receiving commentary on the way.

Treasures of the Deep

Treasures of the Deep museum is only 100m from Pebble Bay Cottage, your Batemans Bay accommodation. The Opal and Shell Museum has a large collection of shells from around the world and it has a display of rare opal collections. The Museum sells shells, opals, souvenirs, minerals, jewellery and more.
